The QS Asia University Ranking 2019: 19 Indian Institutes in Top 200.

The QS Asia University Ranking 2019 was released recently and Indian institutes have improved in rankings as compared to previous years.

A total of 19 Indian institutes have made it to top 200 with IIT Bombay leading the pack at 33rd rank. The National University of Singapore has topped the list followed by The University of Hong Kong at the second place.

The third spot in the ranking is shared by Nanyang Technological University, Singapore and Tsinghua University, China. The top five is rounded by Peking University, China. The Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (IIT-Bombay) has this year too topped the Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) Asia University Rankings from India followed by IIT Delhi and IIT Madras.

In the latest rankings, eight Indian universities have figured among the top 100 in the list of Asia’s top 50 universities. However, no Indian University managed to come under the top 10 slot.

The National University of Singapore has been assessed as Asia’s best university, followed by University of Hong Kong, Nanyang Technological University, Tsinghua University, and Peking University.

The overall ranking of the Indian institutes has improved with IIT-Bombay moving up to the 33rd position. Last year the institute was at 34. IIT-Delhi is at the 40th position, IIT-Madras at the 48th position, Indian Institute of Science at 50, IIT-Kharagpur at rank 53, IIT-Kanpur (61), Delhi University and IIT-Roorkee are among the Indian institutions in the top 100.

Of the 19 Universities from India that have made it to the top 200 Universities in Asia, 8 are IITs. The names and their corresponding ranks of the Indian Universities are given below:

Union Minister for HRD, Prakash javadekar, had also tweeted commending the improved ranking of IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IISc Bengaluru, and IIT Kharagpur. Recently QS India Ranking was released for the first time and IIT Bombay made it to the top of the list. 75 premiere institutes of the country were placed in the QS India ranking 2019.
