The NSS Wing of IIT Patna jointly organized a cycle and pad yatra on 1st
October along with Cultural affairs to commemorate the memory of Gandhiji
and his struggle to obtain Independence for our nation, in the light of
Gandhiji’s 150th birth anniversary.
The Director of IIT Patna joined along the procession, leading various
other faculties, staff members and the student community, flagging off the
drive at 6 am early morning. The event garnered enthusiastic response as
people joined in with their cycles that supported posters and slogans made
by the fraternity with their creative and aspiring minds.
The drive concluded with an On-Spot competition in which the students were
encouraged to speak about their favorite quote by Gandhiji, and how it had
an impact on their lives. The institute will be conducting various other
cultural activities and competitions to celebrate the grand occasion.
Sadhna Diwas was also organized, dedicated to the awakened and awe –
inspiring soul of Gandhiji. Various songs like Raghupati Raghav Raja
Raam, Allah Tero Naam, Vaishnav Jan Toh, Mai Saraswati Sarda were sung in
the memory of our beloved Bapuji and his principles.
The director came forward to render Raag Ramakali thereby filling the atmosphere with melody
and creating an environment of respect for the deep and rich classical
music tradition of our country.
