A journey of thousand miles begins with a single step. Honbl Dy CM Shri. Sushil Kumar Modi has inaugurated the 13th edition of Startup Master Class at IIT Patna today. This edition of Startup Master Class is an initiative of IIT Kanpur Alumni Association with Incubation Centre IIT Patna and Entrepreneurship Club, IIT Patna.
In his welcome speech, Praveen Bhargava, Global President of IIT Kanpur Alumni Association shared how this thought that started in 2014 by the alumni of IIT Kanpur has reached multiple cities across the country starting from Bangalore and effected a tidal wave of harmony and cohesive the ecosystem for Indian Entrepreneurs. Explaining the objective, Mr. Bhargava said that this is a platform to bring investors, mentors, successful entrepreneurs, and the government together for furthering the cause of entrepreneurship in this part of the country.
Representing IIT Patna, Board of Governors member Prof Mayank Tiwari has welcomed the gathering. Prof Tiwari spoke about the focus IIT Patna is giving to promoting entrepreneurship and thanked Government of Bihar for the funding support provided to set up Incubation Centre IIT Patna, which supports 14 companies at present.
Shri Arnab Kumar, Senior Director, NITI Aayog, Registrar IIT Patna, Dr. Pramod Kumar Tiwari, Professor in charge of Incubation Centre IIT Patna, Shri Praveen Bhargava, and Shri Jayshankar Sharma, mentor IIT Kanpur Alumni association, Head of the departments and faculty members from IIT Patna were also present.
5 startup companies presented their innovations before Hon Dy CM. Mindmatrix and School links presented their work addressing various educational challenges faced by students in Bihar. Bionic hope, incubated at Incubation Centre IIT Patna has demonstrated their active upper limb prosthetic hand to the Dy CM. Techprolabz, incubated at Incubation Centre IIT Patna and supported by Bihar Startup Policy presented how they are bringing in technology education to Bihar schools. Swayambhu presented how their work in the field of waste management and biogas can be socially transforming.
Congratulating the startups for their innovative thinking to address local needs, Shri Modi said that students and innovators should think from a global perspective and keep solutions applicable to local contexts. Shri Modi has encouraged students to focus on innovations in the agriculture, health and education sectors.
The event is blessed with the presence of experts from diverse fields. Mr. Amitabh Satyam, Chief Mentor at Smart Transformations narrated the opportunities startups have in the upcoming era of smart cities. Mr.Koushalendra, Founder of Koushalya Foundation spoke on how his journey evolved from being an IIM Ahmedabad graduate to a social entrepreneur.
Eminent personalities such as Dr.Sunil Agrawal from National Security Council Secretariat at Prime Minister’s Office, Shri Kumar Ravi, Patna DM, Mr. Ajay Misra, Mr. Udayan Chandra from IITK Bio-Incubator, Mr. Srikant Shastri from Jiyo Fullest, Sandeep Kumar from Voxomos Intelligent Solutions are among the panel of speakers.
The event also features four workshops on “Discovering entrepreneurial mindset”, “Intellectual Property” and “Agri technology” and “Smart Manufacturing and Product Design”. The event will continue on 14th Sunday. Shri Arnav Kumar Senior Director from Niti Ayog will talk on artificial intelligence and its applications. Mr. Ranjit will guide the startups on how GST can benefit Entrepreneurs. Srikant Shastri will be talking to the startups on how to pitch effectively. Dr. Nagahanumaiaha, Director of central manufacturing technology institute Bangalore will lead the workshop on Smart Manufacturing and Product Design.
The event will conclude with SMC SELECT, where the startups are given a golden opportunity to pitch in front of renowned judges followed with the award ceremony.
